Serving Up A Fresh Perspective on Wedding Gifts

I recently read an article on proper etiquette when it comes to giving wedding gifts by Rosalinda Randall, Your Relationship Edge.  It occurred to me that traditions have slowly faded away based on lifestyles we make today.

For example, couples today usually live together before they get married.  You rarely find a couple that hasn’t “officially” moved in together until AFTER they were married.  It seems so unusual right?  The idea behind living together is to find out whether or not you would be compatible with one another.   OK … so they find out that they are “happily ever after” so now the wedding planning begins.  Seems backwards, but these are the times.  What do you do when it comes to buying wedding gifts for a couple who’s been living together?  They would most certainly have what is needed in their home.  Right?  Hmmmm maybe.

Here’s what Rosalinda had to say about the proper etiquette when it comes to situation like this “asking for specific gifts is still considered “tacky” and an imposition on your guests“.  I do happen to agree with her so here’s a great strategy … bridal registries.  HA!  That way you can tell your guests what you do need without really telling them.  Now for bigger items, like TVs or a couch.  I would suggest to indicate on the registry you are willing to take gift cards especially if you are registering at Macy’s.  🙂
