Doing Business In Napa Valley, California

Napa Valley on a Cutting Board

Napa Valley on a Cutting Board

Just made our first deliveries of our wooden cutting boards this past weekend to our wholesale accounts in Napa Valley, California.  What a fantastic place!  It is no wonder why Napa Valley is well known throughout as the wine capital of the world.  Many other places are definitely starting to become like Napa but really, there is only one.  Am I right?

Napa businesses are a small, niche community by supporting one another.  And why not?  Isn’t that what a community is by definition?  However, Napa is all about sustainabiity, eco-friendly, repurpose and recycle (and upcycle).  Here’s some advice on what to do in order for you to do business with Napa.

  • Be local or local-ish.  Napa businesses love “mom and pop” manufacturers.  Supporting the community is their goal.
  • Repurpose and/or upcycle materials to make it into something functional like a wooden cutting board, cheese knives, serving spoons, wine glasses.  Really anything around the wine theme would pretty much work.
  • Have a story.  Why are you doing your business besides making money.  Not just Napa, but anyone who wants to do business with you will want to know who you are and what you are all about.
  • Be persistent.  Establish connections by networking within Napa.  The more they see you at community events, the more they will trust you.
