Gifts for Groomsmen

_MG_9884

Picking out groomsmen gifts isn’t easy.  Our advice is very simple.  Customized, personalized and unique.  You really can’t go wrong.  Make each groomsmen gift different from the other, however, it can fall under any general category.  Be creative, be conscience, be honest.  Keep in mind, what you like … more than likely, your groomsmen will also like.  Just as a rule a thumb.

For example:

  1.  Bottle openers
  2.  Pens
  3.  Coffee mugs, shot glasses, beer glasses

Pretty general but these categories can hit home with each individual.  For example, getting a wall mounted bottle opener with they favorite beer or soda or perhaps if they were in the armed forces such as Army, Navy, Marines or Air Force as the bottle opener logo’d then engraving the backing with their initials.  Perhaps, engraving their time in service.  Original and brilliant!

cropped-IMG_88821.jpgFor the chef that is your buddy or best man, perhaps a custom cutting board completely engraved with their nickname you’ve always had for him or fraternity symbol remembering your youth in college.  Adding a saying like “kiss the cook” or something that you often say engraved and immortalized in a cutting board.  HA!  Not only will he enjoy the gag, but he will forever remember the moment you so rekindled for him.

Selecting a groomsmen gift doesn’t have to be difficult.  It just has to resonate with you.

Personalized Wedding Gifts – Custom Engrave Cutting Boards

What a great idea!  Nothing says original and unique than a personalized gift.  When going to a wedding and you are considering a wedding gift, think of these 3 factors before you make your decision to buy one:

1. What does the couple need?

2. Do they have a bridal registry?

3. Do you want to give the gift of “WOW”?

Customizing a gift is just that – personalized just for the happy couple.  So what do you say?  Here’s a few suggestions:

1. Write the bride and groom’s first name on the 1st line then the date of their wedding on the 2nd line.

2. A saying that you are connected with them.  “Kiss the Cook!” as the example above.

3. The design on their wedding invitation.  Now talk about original!

Not only are you wanting to be unique, but also you want your gift to be used and enjoyed for many years to come.  Consider your options when purchasing a gift.  I for one, am not a huge fan of bridal registry, however, it is sometimes a necessity as they usually put on their list items they will need.  But I say, consider a handmade gift.  Something that comes from the heart.  A gift with not only a lot of thought into it, but also a lot of love.

Not just any wooden cutting board, but a handmade hardwood cutting board.  One that has several strips of beautiful hardwoods glued together to make a cutting board that you have never seen before – truly one of a kind.  Or better yet, why not personalized it?  Custom engrave it with their family name or the bride and groom’s first name with their wedding date or simply their year?  Personalizing any wedding gift (especially if it is handmade) can be it an extra special gift that can potentially become a heirloom.  Imagine, a handmade custom engraved cutting board.  Your gift will definitely stand out above the rest.

One they will treasure for many years to come.  Perhaps, even prominently displaying it for others to admire.  Every kitchen needs a cutting board whether you have one or not.  A beautiful piece to add to their kitchen decor especially if it is engraved adds a nice touch to the decor and atmosphere.  Don’t worry about the engraving being in the way of cutting.  Just make sure the personalization is on the bottom right or left corner of the board.  If all else fails, they can always use the opposite side of the board.  After all, the design is through and through.  Want other great ideas on handmade wedding gifts, check out this Pinterest page.  My fav!  Happy shopping!

Serving Up A Fresh Perspective on Wedding Gifts

Rosalinda Randall

Rosalinda Randall

I recently read an article on proper etiquette when it comes to giving wedding gifts by Rosalinda Randall, Your Relationship Edge.  It occurred to me that traditions have slowly faded away based on lifestyles we make today.

For example, couples today usually live together before they get married.  You rarely find a couple that hasn’t “officially” moved in together until AFTER they were married.  It seems so unusual right?  The idea behind living together is to find out whether or not you would be compatible with one another.   OK … so they find out that they are “happily ever after” so now the wedding planning begins.  Seems backwards, but these are the times.  What do you do when it comes to buying wedding gifts for a couple who’s been living together?  They would most certainly have what is needed in their home.  Right?  Hmmmm maybe.

Here’s what Rosalinda had to say about the proper etiquette when it comes to situation like this “asking for specific gifts is still considered “tacky” and an imposition on your guests“.  I do happen to agree with her so here’s a great strategy … bridal registries.  HA!  That way you can tell your guests what you do need without really telling them.  Now for bigger items, like TVs or a couch.  I would suggest to indicate on the registry you are willing to take gift cards especially if you are registering at Macy’s.  🙂

Wedding season all year round, really. No stopping couples of any time of the year for getting married. Why not? So many great dates to choose from: Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, April, the spring month (a favorite time for most bride and groom to get married), the entire month of May, June, July (very popular as well), August and September before kids go back to school, October (yes there are Halloween weddings), November and December are popular winter wedding month then, of course, New Year’s Eve. Well whatever the date of the wedding you are going to, you still have the challenge of getting the right wedding gift to the beautiful couple. Something special, unique, and memorable.

Here are 3 great ideas on what to do besides buying from their wedding registry.

2. Take their wedding invitation and have it framed. Copy it onto a canvas or burlap. Great home decor. Memorable.
3. Beer glasses etched with their first names and their wedding date. Who doesn’t like beer? Well maybe some, but instead of beer mugs, make them wine glasses.

Custom Made Wood Cutting Boards as Wedding Gifts

Heart Shape Cutting Boards

Heart Shape Cutting Boards

Who would have thought right?  Custom made cutting boards as wedding gifts?  Well, if you are going to be attending a wedding sometime this year, you may want to think about a gift.  Not just any gift, but a wedding gift that is one-of-a-kind, unique and handmade.  You don’t have to just consider a wood cutting board, but consider anything handmade that completely resonates with you when thinking about the wedding and what to get the bride and groom.  Something “out of the box” and away from the department stores bridal registry.

Here’s a few ideas.

36" Open Heart

36″ Open Heart

  1. A heart shaped cutting board.  Why not?  After all, it is a wedding.  A celebration of love and unity.  The heart absolutely symbolizes all that.  Have it personalized with the bride and groom’s names on it with their wedding date or maybe just the year they are getting married.  Up to you.
  2. A huge lighted up heart made out of metal.  A 36″ open heart says I LOVE YOU in a bold way!  Perfect for that rustic wedding day!  Check out American Vintage Inc.
  3. Their wedding invitation framed like a framed art!  Seriously, how can you go wrong?  The last thing the couples usually think about is memorializing their wedding invitation.  Great heirloom gift!

Valentine’s Day as Your Wedding Day and Night

Now that’s a fabulous idea!  What better way to celebrate your nuptials than on the most celebrated couple’s day of the year, right? What a great, easy theme to work with hearts everywhere on your invitations, napkins, favors and so on.  But what do you get your significant other to say “I love you” on your special day?  Yes, you should consider buying a gift for one another.  Not only are you going to spend the rest of your lives together, but you should start it off right by presenting a gift.

Here’s a few suggestions.

  1.  Custom engraved cutting board monogrammed with the initial your last names together and your last names spelled out and simple saying “you are loved”.  Present it when you come home.  Have it there at your new house displayed in your kitchen.  Great way to welcome you!
  2. Decorate the room you will be staying at on your wedding night.  Get bags and bags of rose petals and spread it throughout the room.  Make heart shapes everywhere … the bed, the bathtub, the shower, the living room, the walk way.  After all, it is Valentine’s Day and your wedding night!  Make sure the room smells like roses when you guys enter it.  Make sure he/she enters first.
  3. Have the best bottle of champagne or wine or liquor ready for you guys to open – chilled by the hotel.
